Art and Design
At Bishops Nympton Primary School our Art and Design curriculum intent takes into consideration:
● The ethos, vision, and values of our school.
● The specific areas of development for our school.
● Relevant national strategies.
● What we want the children to learn.
Art and Design Intent Implementation Impact
The Art and Design curriculum at Bishops Nympton Primary School aims to inspire pupils and develop their confidence to experiment and invent their own works of art. We aim to give pupils every opportunity to develop their ability, nurture their talent and interests, express their ideas and thoughts about the world, as well as learning about art and artists across cultures and through history. We aim for high quality outcomes that children take pride in achieving and which support children in embedding their learning and which facilitate prior learning and skills to be memorable and built upon. Our curriculum supports pupils to meet the National curriculum end of key stage attainment targets.
At Bishops Nympton Primary School the Kapow Art scheme of work is used to support the delivery of the Art and Design curriculum across Years 1-6. Within the Early Years, planning and delivery of Art and Design is woven into the topics and themes outlined in the rolling programme. Coverage and outcomes are planned and assessed against the Development Matters Statements and Early Learning Goals.
